As part of its ambition to wider science communication and to offer training and networking opportunities for science communication professionals in parts of the world that are underserved in terms of existing professional development schemes, GlobalSCAPE is organising in-person workshops in different parts of the world.

More information is available on our website

In order to open up opportunities to all science communicators, GlobalSCAPE is offering a mobility scheme in order to support potential participants who could benefit from these workshops but would be financially unable to join. This Mobility Scheme is designed and managed by Ecsite, the European Network of Science centres and Science museums.

Who is this for?

The mobility scheme has been designed to support Science communicators who:

  • Would particularly benefit from attending a GlobalSCAPE workshop
  • Would have difficulties attending a workshop without financial support from GlobalSCAPE
  • Are based in geographical regions that are coherent with the workshops’ locations

As an indication, you can find the list of the world regions and the corresponding workshops.

  • Valencia, Spain: Europe, Northern Africa, Western Asia
  • Johannesburg, South Africa: Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Bogotá, Colombia: Northern and Latin America,
  • Goa, India: South-Eastern Asia (depending on the location), Southern Asia
  • Melbourne, Australia: South-Eastern Asia (depending on the location), Oceania
  • Tokyo, Japan: Eastern Asia

Applications outside geographical scopes can be considered if properly justified by the applicant.

What can GlobalSCAPE contribute?

Up to 750€ will be reimbursed to selected participants after the supporting documentation has been provided. These expenses need to be reasonable, justified and in accordance with sound financial management (economy and efficiency). Please note that the reimbursement process will take place after the workshop.

Only costs covering travel, accommodation and subsistence linked to the participation in the workshop will be eligible. These expenses need to be reasonable, justified and in accordance with sound financial management (economy and efficiency).

Please read carefully the following document:

How will GlobalSCAPE select grantees?

Each application will be reviewed and scored by consortium members against the criteria listed in the section “Selection criteria”. Consortium members will be asked to provide an overall score, on a 5 points scale, as well as recommendations of shortlisted applications.

All the applicants will be contacted individually to receive notice of funding.
